The USC IGM Art Gallery and OMG GLOBAL, LLC
Present
“A Leaders Preview of the exhibit Soft Machine: DNA"
by internationally and critically acclaimed artist, Mike Saijo
November 8 -- 12:30pm - 3pm
Invited attendees include Los Angeles leaders in public, private, nonprofit/faith-based, academic and media organizations. Community leaders will seek holistic solutions for complex health, education and social challenges inspired by the exhibit. The artist and musicians will encourage the community leaders to continue working together in optimism, sharing and leveraging existing resources to ensure economic self-sufficiency and social justice.
The Event, to be held at USC’s Institute for Genetic Medicine, showcases the “systemic art" of DNA. Music performances by Los Angeles Philharmonic violinist, Robert Gupta and singer songwriter/cancer survivor and advocate, Charlie Lustman will provide extraordinary talent, vision and a spirit of optimism. The USC Institute for Genetic Medicine is a hub of research in genetic, molecular and computational approaches for the study and treatment of human disease. Its art-in-the-workplace gallery serves as an art-framed forum for open-minded, deliberative discussions on complex social issues that interface with the creative process and findings of research in molecular biology, health and social systems. Since 2000, the Gallery has offered a wide range of exhibits and symposiums on the USC Health Sciences Campus.
This Leaders preview of Soft Machine: DNA is designed to inform, engage and empower all participants with a systemic pattern for community capacity building critical to ensuring a bright future for the next generation. Communities safe for children are communities safe for everyone. "Our children's bright future is our bright future," smiles Lynn Crandall, Gallery Director. Lynn's unique vision, guidance and determination brought together this explosive collaboration of the Arts, medicine and the community.
